Multimedia Journalist
I’m Lauren Paterson, a professional journalist reporting from rural communities across the Pacific Northwest.

My journalism career is shaped by my Northwest roots and a deep understanding of how regional stories intersect with national attention. From daily reporting to long-form features, I work across platforms and under deadline, turning complex issues into clear, compelling stories. My background in broadcast, documentary and enterprise reporting allows me to move seamlessly between breaking news and deeply reported work.
My local reporting on the 2022 killings of four students drew national media attention.

Listen to my stories broadcast on NPR’s “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered,” centered on Idaho politics, a long lost film and a high profile murder case.
Explore my stories from NPR member stations across the Northwest focused on topics such as housing, economics, agriculture and tribal communities.
Read stories about scientific breakthroughs at Washington State University in a myriad of research areas from food security to wine science.
These are some of the accomplishments from my career.
